HTC Announces the Tattoo - The first 'free smartphones' emerge
Details have not been released but the expectation is that the HTC Tatoo will be free with a 2 year service contract. So - it’s not entirely free as some analysts predict a future 3-way collaboration with Google, handset provider(s), and cellular network operator(s) will be, but it is a step in that direction as these phones typically cost several hundreds of dollars without an annual contract.
